ADA SoCal Endorses Hilda Solis, U.S. Congress District 38
The working people of Southern California are under assault by the Trump Administration – and I won’t just stand by and let it happen. As the President attacks workers, immigrants, educators, housing that working people can afford, women’s reproductive rights, veterans’ services, labor unions, the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid/Medi-Cal – and democracy itself – we must fight back. I’ve been standing up for the people – and against Trump – as a Supervisor, and now it’s time to campaign for the House and fight for the people and democracy in the Congress. I wish Proposition 50 wasn’t necessary – but Trump and his allies in Texas and elsewhere are undermining our democracy. We must fight fire with fire, because too much is at stake. Thank you for your support!

ADA SoCal Endorses Frances Yasmeen Motiwalla, U.S. Congress District 52 Criminal Justice / Public SafetyI will lead the charge on eliminating private prisons, mass incarceration, cash bail, and the death penalty, and replace these pernicious policies with rehabilitation programs for inmates, re-entry support for transitioning convicts, and community outreach initiatives to engage at-risk youth. Elected to the California State Senate in the March 2021 special election, Senator Kamlager has spent her career prioritizing equity and access for Californians, especially for Angelenos. She has authored landmark legislation in the areas of criminal justice reform, health care equity, environmental protections, and affordable housing – including the most transformative probation reform law in the country and legislation requiring implicit bias training for health care professionals and court employees. EducationTo correct this, I will put my efforts towards eliminating student debt, supporting free public college, creating programs that provide financial aid to students wishing to attend private college in exchange for civil service, and diverting federal funds to close the teacher pay gap. I will also advocate for federal trade skill programs, stronger K-12 curriculums, and increased federal funding for academic research. HousingI strongly support Medicare-for-All and will tackle the racial and gender disparities that plague our healthcare system. I also support the Rent Relief Act and plan to increase tenant protections, incentivize affordable housing construction, and work with experts on long-term solutions to the homelessness crisis.
