ADA SoCal Endorses Pilar Schaivo  for State Assembly District 40

Pilar is the only candidate endorsed by the Democratic Party, nurses, teachers, Planned Parenthood and Sierra Club. She will make sure big corporations and billionaires pay their fair share so we can cut taxes for small businesses, seniors, veterans, and regular people like you and me. Pilar is an independent voice who will stand up to corporations and those in power, even if they’re in her own party.

For more than 20 years, Pilar Schiavo has been an independent voice, delivering good jobs, affordable housing, solutions to homelessness and health care.

Pilar helped provide healthcare - including reproductive healthcare - to more than one million people. She also co-founded an organization that has delivered more than 40,000 meals to people in need, helped secure housing for veterans experiencing homelessness, and has increased resources to keep our communities safe.

ADA SoCal Endorses Eloise Reyes
for State Assembly District 50

In 2016, Eloise Gómez Reyes was sworn in as a California State Assemblymember for the 47th Assembly District. She serves on the Aging and Long-Term Care Committee, Budget Committee, Judiciary Committee, Utilities and Energy Committee, Legislative Ethics Committee, and Budget Committee on Education.

In the second year of her first term, she was appointed Assistant Majority Whip - a leadership position that ensures that legislative floor session operates efficiently.

In her first two terms, Eloise championed bills and issues that increase equity and inclusion in vulnerable communities throughout the state.  These efforts include AB 2147 which led a national conversation on second chances for inmate firefighters giving them a pathway to expunge their records and pursue a career in firefighting.

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Eloise introduced AB 685, which requires businesses to notify their employees if they have been exposed to Covid-19 and report that information to public health authorities.

ADA SoCal Endorses Reggie Jones-Sawyer
for State Assembly.

Reggie knows the struggles of inequality and injustice, because he’s lived through them. As a child, Reggie’s family and four other families all lived under one roof. His mother worked around the clock just to put a roof over her children’s head and food on the table. But sometimes that wasn’t enough.

These experiences helped Reggie understand from an early age the critical need for social and economic justice. That’s why he has dedicated his career to uplifting working families.

ADA SoCal Endorses Fatima Iabal-Zubair for Assembly District 65.

She runs because she believes in a government that works for all of us, not just the select few. Before running, Fatima taught Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at Watts, building strong relationships with her students and their families. Fatima, the first to arrive in the morning and the last to go out at night, dedicated her time and energy to her students. She founded an award-winning FIRST Robotics team, served as director of the Department of Science, and cultivated strong relationships with her students.has already defeated a Republican to win her seat on the Simi Valley City Council so she knows what it takes to win.

As a community advocate and teacher, Fatima saw the struggles faced by her students and the district, from lack of access to unavailable health care and housing to educational inequality and lack of economic opportunities. She saw a clear lack of action by the current AD65 representative.  In this race, she gained more support against the incumbent, the most funded corporate democrat in the State Assembly, than anyone before.

ADA SoCal Endorses Louise Abramson Assembly District 51

I will work for you in the State Assembly to address California’s core challenges: housing, homelessness, and climate change. As a scientist and neighborhood leader, I will tackle these issues with all my technical training, the urgency they demand, and a commitment to improving your life, your family’s life, and our community.

Going door to door in my neighborhood, I heard a common story: my neighbors were worried about being able to afford the cost of living in our community, and they wanted to do something to help their neighbors living on the streets. These problems are not separate from the dire manifestations of climate change we are facing, and their solutions will require a systemic approach and an attitude of civic grace.
