ADA SoCal Endorses Sameen Ahmadnia for Culver City School Board I am an Iranian American who was born and raised in an immigrant household in Orange County, California. In high school, I served as the high school liaison to the City Council. For college, I attended the University of California, Berkeley where I majored in Political Science, like most future attorneys, and minored in Middle Eastern Studies. After college, I went to the George Washington University Law School. In law school, I was awarded the Manuel and Ana Maria Benitez Award for Clinical Excellence in Immigration Law and was the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. After graduation, I became an immigration attorney. As an immigration attorney, I work every day to make things fair and just. Following the 2016 election, I hosted the Refugee Ball as an alternative inaugural ball in Washington, DC, focused on uplifting the voices of our immigrant community who had been under attack by xenophobic rhetoric during the presidential election. I have completely dedicated my work to making space for our immigrant neighbors and was most recently awarded the Pro Bono Champion award. My work allows me to see systemic barriers that exist for all people and advocate for greater equity. If elected, I’m committed to improving access, wellness, and achievement for all our students. My priorities include:
My focus is on putting our students first and giving them the resources they need, especially as we recover from the pandemic. My experiences with our multilingual learner community at La Ballona highlighted the systemic barriers that exist across our district and motivated me to advocate on a broader scale. I want to tackle these issues, stress community engagement, and make sure every student, teacher, and staff member in CCUSD has what they need to thrive. I appreciate your consideration and support as I work towards making a positive impact in our schools. Vote for Janice Hahn for L.A. County Supervisor on November 5th, 2024. |

POMONA CITY COUNCIL |
![]() |
ADA SoCal Endorses Kyle Wade for Lomita City Council 2024 After graduating from UCLA Law School in 2004 I came to Pomona to sue slumlords and represent kids with disabilities. Initially I worked for a nonprofit and had a public interest fellowship to represent tenants. For example, I won compensation for two families living in a mold and roach infested building in east Pomona who suffered asthma, nosebleeds and constant migraines and something like PTSD from the endless roaches no matter how clean they kept their apartments; I helped an elderly couple near downtown Pomona living in a rented house where the roof was literally caving in and there was a big hole in the living room floor; One big case secured life-changing funds for nine plaintiffs from a mobile home park on Mission where the manager was an abusive tyrant and the owner was renting out storage sheds with hotplates and no bathrooms at exorbitant prices to people with criminal records and others who had literally nowhere else to go but the streets. When the fellowship ended I started representing students with disabilities full time. My clients are typically low-income, Spanish-speaking families who have a child with autism, or a learning disability, or ADHD, or health problems, or any other disability. The parents are struggling to get the school district to provide an adequate education for their children. I help kids get services and support they need to learn to talk, or read, or behave, or pay attention, or make friends—ultimately to learn and become as happy, productive and independent as possible. ADA SoCal Endorses Kay Ambriz for Santa Monica Rent Control Rent control is crucial to protecting Santa Monica’s renters and safeguarding our city’s most vulnerable residents. Without rent control, I would have been priced-out of Santa Monica years ago – I know many other city residents share this experience. It is only because of renter protection programs that I have been able to stand where I am today. WEST HOLLYWOOD CITY COUNCIL |
![]() |
ADA SoCal Endorses Zekiah Wright for West Hollywood City Council For nearly four decades, West Hollywood has distinguished itself as an eclectic, affirming and forward-thinking community. I’m running for City Council to continue that legacy while ensuring that our future is built on vision, smart investments and a commitment to implementing interest-based policies that help us meet our challenges and maximize our opportunities. Housing affordability and renter protections must be addressed if we are to remain a diverse, multi-dimensional and livable city. We need policies and initiatives that address homelessness and affordable housing in ways that are strategic, sustainable and have benchmarks to measure success. Solving our problems and crafting equitable solutions takes the skills that I have cultivated throughout my life. My civic involvement in West Hollywood and my career as an employment lawyer have informed my perspective about the benefits of focusing on interests rather than positions. As a trained mediator, I understand how to educate rather than agitate and seek cooperation rather than conflict. Navigating our way after the pandemic, has revealed and created new challenges for our businesses. I am a business owner so I understand these challenges. As our businesses implement higher minimum wages and safety measures, their viability has become uncertain. I believe that our businesses are a vital part of the unique fabric of our City. Their survival is critical and I will continue seeking collaboration and solutions to ensure we have a stronger business community. Learn more click here.
