ANA KASPARIAN of The Young Turks, the most successful political network on the Internet, will lead the discussion with Nomi on how central bankers control global markets and dictate economic policy, and what we need to be mindful of in the upcoming elections.

Jan Goodman, longtime board member of ADASoCal, says, “The Garden Party, occurring just before the November elections, aims to focus on some of the most vital issues on the ballot:  The bold plan to create a public bank as an alternative to Wells Fargo and other banking predators that crashed our economy (Measure B--City of L.A.), and the struggle to protect Californians from skyrocketing rents and make housing affordable again (Prop 10). These issues have been percolating for a long time, tended by long laboring hands. However, Bernie Sanders planted many progressive seeds and younger activists from his movement have become some of the key people working on some of the hottest issues on the ballot. The warriors in these battles are diverse, inter-generational, highly motivated, and worthy of recognition.”

THE “LOS ANGELES PUBLIC BANK” (Measure B) TEAM. . . including:  Ellen Brown, Attorney/Author, Phoenix Goodman, Trinity Tran, David Jette

“THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH” (“PROP.  10”) TEAM - Elena Popp, Damien Goodmon

Donations will support the year round work of ADASoCal, an early endorser of Bernie Sanders.  Thousands of voters depend upon the rankings and endorsements of ADA in Southern California and around the country.  ADASoCal is a multi-issue progressive organization, fighting for peace, social justice, environmental, racial and economic equality.  Americans for Democratic Action, is not affiliated with the Democratic Party.  It was founded more than 70 years ago by a distinguished group of progressive visionaries, including John Kenneth Galbraith, Walter Reuther, and Eleanor Roosevelt, in the wake of the New Deal to push the Democratic Party to the Left.  ADA is at the cutting edge of every important struggle for human rights, world peace, and social and economic justice.

This Midterm Election offers us a chance to start the process of turning things around in this Country.  And here in Southern California, we have an opportunity to flip a number of Republican Congressional seats.  But it isn't enough to elect Democrats if those Democrats are bought and paid for by corporate interests like the Charter Schools, the Petroleum giants and the Insurance and Pharmaceutical companies.  That's why the June 5th Primary is so important.  We have a chance to make sure that if a Democrat goes to the November Run-off, that Democrat will be an actual Progressive who will put the needs of their constituents ahead of those of their donors.

One of the most important races is for US Senate.  Dianne Feinstein votes with Donald Trump over 30% of the time.  Only Joe Manchin (WV) and Heidi Heitcamp (ND) are Democrats who are more supportive of the Republicans.  If we lived in one of those states, we could be satisfied with Feinstein, but Blue California can do a lot better, which is why I'm urging people to vote for President Pro-Tem of the Senate, Kevin De León.  While Dianne Feinstein is giving speeches urging people to be patient with the President, De León is crafting legislation to protect California from his destructive agenda.

Knock Every Door In Your District

The California Nurses Association, HealthyCA, Our Revolution and allies are launching coordinated Knock Every Door canvasses in assembly districts across the state in order to put pressure on assembly members to move forward on SB 562.

There are several Assembly Districts being targeted. I will be hosting the canvassing event focusing on Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra in Assembly District 39.

Join us as we go door-to-door talking to our neighbors about SB 562, legislation that would establish a system of guaranteed healthcare for all in the state. We’ll never win single payer healthcare if we don’t start making our representatives take a stand and vote on it. Every day we delay in moving this bill forward, more people will suffer because of lack of healthcare.

We can't wait until the next election to start organizing in our community - we need to go door-to-door now! We'll start with a training session and end with a debrief of our experience knocking on doors and talking to voters.

Let's get to know our neighbors. Water and snacks will be provided! We must do what is necessary to guarantee healthcare for all and lay the groundwork to continue the Political Revolution!
